Bradford Mitchell, a native of Montgomery, Alabama, obtained his undergraduate degree from Auburn University Honors Program in Biomedical Sciences. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Mitchell attended University of Alabama School of Medicine maintaining the rank of Top Quartile of his Medical School Class. His residency brought him to Chattanooga where he served as the Chief Resident and Residency Recruitment Chair at the University of Tennessee Family Practice at Erlanger Medical Center. During his residency he gained valuable experience providing coverage for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga men’s basketball team, the NCAA Southern Scuffle Wrestling team, the YCAP Boxing Club, and the USA Cycling National Championships.

Following his residency, he completed his fellowship at Duke University in Primary Care Sports Medicine under the direction of Dr. Tracy Ray. While at Duke, he participated in training room coverage and pre-participation physicals for all Duke athletes and he provided practice and game coverage for the football, men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, tennis and wrestling teams. His experience included physician coverage of the 2015 National Championship Duke Basketball team with the leadership of Dr. Claude T. Moorman Ill, team surgeon and Dr. Jeff Bytomski, medical team doctor.

He served as one of the team physicians for Elon University under Dr. Lee Diehl. Dr. Mitchell was also on the medical staff involved with men’s and women’s olympic qualifier tournaments for North American Caribbean Rugby Association, as a team physician for Northern High School football and he provided coverage for Duke Outreach Injury Clinic.

Dr. Mitchell was fortunate to receive specialized training in ultrasound-guided diagnostics and injections under the world-renowned, Dr. Blake Boggess, who covers the United States in World University Games and teaches musculoskeletal ultrasound courses both in the United States and internationally.

Dr. Mitchell enjoys Auburn football, turkey hunting, playing tennis and playing the piano and guitar. He lives in North Chattanooga with his wife, Lindsey, and their daughter, Betsy.

As a non-operative Sports Medicine specialist, I strive to enable my patients to return to the activities they love, whether that is participating in competitive athletics, playing with grandkids, or anything in between.
