Candace McKee, M.D., D. ABA, is a fellowship-trained interventional pain management physician who specializes in non-operative spine care. She is double board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine through the American Board of Anesthesiology.
A native of Cookeville, Tennessee, Dr. McKee completed her undergraduate degree in Biology at Tennessee Technological University. She graduated with distinction from medical school at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. While in medical school, she served on numerous committees including the Dean’s Student Committee on Admissions, and volunteered with the Salvation Army Clinic, a student-established free clinic. She was involved in developing and presenting multiple quality improvement and research projects, with topics including vitamin D deficiency indicators and group visit outcomes for diabetic patients
in the family medicine clinic.
Dr. McKee completed her residency in anesthesiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she served on the Residency Recruitment committee. She was involved in multiple quality improvement projects and resident research as well, comparing the effectiveness of multiple nerve block techniques for post-operative pain relief after total knee arthroplasty.
After residency, she completed her fellowship training in pain medicine at the University of Kentucky.
Prior to joining the Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics, she practiced as a consultant physician at the Pain Center of Lake Cumberland, in Somerset, Kentucky, where she provided acute and chronic interventional pain management in a hospital-based outpatient setting.
She is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, America Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
Away from the office, Dr. McKee enjoys hiking, camping, and spending time with her family. She and her husband, Tom, have a baby girl, Lucy.
