Dr. Robert Mastey began his studies at Colgate College where he received his B.A. in Economics. He continued with graduate studies in the Masters of Applied Human Physiology Program at Hahnemann Medical School in Philadelphia. He then earned his medical degree from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (now Rutgers Medical School). His specialties include:

Dr. Mastey completed his Post Graduate training in General Surgery and Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center. He then finished his fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Brown University/ Rhode Island Hospital
in Providence, RI.

The Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics recruited Dr. Mastey to join the practice in 1996. He specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity Disorders.

Bob and his wife, Carol, have lived in the East Brainerd area for over twenty years where they raised their 3 children Sarah, Megan and Tyler. When time allows, Bob enjoys playing and watching various sports, travel, music and reading.

Dr. Mastey was always very pleasant and personable every time I saw him. He always made you feel as though you were the only one there, taking his time to answer all questions and making certain you understood everything necessary. Excellent doctor/patient skills, which a lot of orthopedist do not possess.
Dr. Mastey was excellent!! He explained my carpal tunnel condition to me and before operating we tried other options. I however needed the operation. It was so painless and the day of the operation he put my mind completely at ease. It’s been only a short time now and my hand is almost completely full strength and best of all no numbness or tingling. It is not always easy to go to the “first appt” with a new physician and be in pain, but Dr Mastey came in and had me and my husband both laughing as he came in the room. We were at ease immediately…and felt comfortable and accepting of what he had to say. I think I was more aware of what he as saying than what I was feeling.
