Ronald Mitchell, MD, MBA is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with advanced fellowship training in hand and upper extremity care. He brings over a decade of experience caring for patients with complex musculoskeletal injuries, combining surgical expertise with a patient-centered approach. Dr. Mitchell specializes in arthritis, fracture care, nerve compression, sports injuries and ligament and tendon injuries.
A graduate of Tulane University School of Medicine, Dr. Mitchell completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Houston Methodist Hospital before serving as a staff surgeon and department head in the United States Navy. His military career took him from North Carolina to Naples, Italy, and Afghanistan, where he provided life-saving care in both advanced medical centers and austere combat environments. For his service, he received numerous commendations, including the Navy Commendation Medal with combat “C” device.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mitchell earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, reflecting his commitment to advancing healthcare delivery and patient safety. His research has been published in leading orthopaedic and sports medicine journals, with a focus on innovative surgical techniques and outcomes for athletes.
Dr. Mitchell has most recently completed a fellowship in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. He is dedicated to helping patients regain function and return to the activities they enjoy most.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys woodworking, exploring world cuisines through cooking, and traveling with an eye for culture and history. Patients appreciate his approachable nature, attention to detail, and the depth of experience he brings to every consultation.
