There was a sense of excitement and momentum in the air Tuesday evening as Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics (CSMO) officially broke ground on its newest facility in Chattanooga.
Physicians, staff, community leaders, and partners gathered on Tyner Road to celebrate the start of construction on a 10,000-square-foot clinic and therapy space designed to expand access to orthopaedic care. The $8 million investment reflects not only the growth of the organization, but its long-term commitment to serving the community.
Built for Growth. Designed for Patients.
The new facility will bring together a wide range of services under one roof, including:
- Expanded clinic space
- Physical and occupational therapy
- On-site MRI and CT imaging
- A dedicated Urgent + Ortho Walk-In Clinic
For patients, that means faster answers, more convenience, and a more connected care experience.
“This is about continuing to evolve to meet the needs of our community,” said CEO Becky Farmer during the event. “As we grow, we’re focused on improving access and making care more seamless for our patients. This facility allows us to do that in a meaningful way—bringing together services that support patients every step of the way.”
A Team Approach to Better Outcomes
From a clinical perspective, the new space represents a major step forward in how orthopaedic care is delivered.
“Our goal is always to help patients get back to what they love as quickly and safely as possible,” said Dr. Tim Ballard, Medical Director. “By integrating services like imaging, therapy, and urgent orthopaedic care, we’re removing barriers in that process. It’s a more efficient, more connected approach—and that directly benefits our patients.”
A Celebration of Community and Momentum
The ceremony featured remarks from local leaders, including Mayor Weston Wamp, and concluded with a ceremonial beam signing—an opportunity for attendees to leave their mark on the future facility.
The event was more than a groundbreaking—it was a reflection of the culture and growth mindset that defines CSMO. With more than 550 employees and a growing presence across the region, the organization continues to invest in both its people and the communities it serves.
As construction begins, the excitement continues to build for what this new space will bring—not just in square footage, but in opportunity, innovation, and improved care.
Looking Ahead
This new facility is one more step in CSMO’s ongoing commitment to expanding access, advancing care, and helping patients move better, feel better, and live better.
Stay tuned for updates as construction progresses—we look forward to welcoming patients to this new space in 2027!
