Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics is proud to congratulate Dr. Jason Robertson on being named one of the 2026 Champions of Healthcare by the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
The recognition celebrates healthcare professionals who are making a meaningful difference in our community—and few people embody that commitment more fully than Dr. Robertson.
A Chattanooga native, longtime sports medicine physician, educator, mentor and community advocate, Dr. Robertson has spent nearly two decades caring for patients and athletes throughout the region. He joined Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in 2007 and currently serves as a medical director for CSMO and clinic director for the McCallie Urgent + Ortho Walk-In Clinic.

A Career Rooted in Chattanooga
For Dr. Robertson, caring for the Chattanooga community is personal.
A graduate of Boyd-Buchanan School, he went on to play varsity soccer at Lipscomb University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in chemistry. He returned to Tennessee for medical school at Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University and completed his family medicine residency and chief residency at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga.
He later completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Alabama Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center, where he trained under renowned sports medicine physicians Dr. James Andrews, Dr. Larry Lemak and Dr. Tracy Ray. During his fellowship, he provided team physician coverage for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, University of West Alabama and Birmingham Barons.
Today, that extensive experience benefits athletes and patients right here at home.
Dr. Robertson serves as team physician for the Chattanooga Lookouts, Chattanooga Red Wolves and Boyd-Buchanan School, bringing specialized sports medicine expertise to athletes at the professional, collegiate and community levels. He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
A Physician Who Gives Back Through Education and Mentorship
One of the defining characteristics of Dr. Robertson’s career has been his commitment to sharing his knowledge with the next generation of healthcare professionals.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he has taught and presented on sports medicine at institutions including the University of Tennessee, Samford University, Quillen College of Medicine and East Tennessee State University. His involvement in education reflects a commitment that extends beyond treating today’s patients—he is helping shape the future of sports medicine.
That dedication to education and mentorship was also recognized earlier this year when Dr. Robertson was named the 2026 Tennessee Athletic Trainers Society Sports Medicine Person of the Year, an honor recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to sports medicine and positively influenced the athletic training profession.
Expertise That Extends to the World Stage
Dr. Robertson’s reputation in sports medicine also extends well beyond Chattanooga.
He is the area’s only U.S. Soccer Federation Preferred Provider and holds a FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine, reflecting his specialized expertise in soccer medicine .In 2026, that expertise took on an international dimension when Chattanooga welcomed the Spanish National Team during its FIFA World Cup preparations. As Chattanooga’s medical liaison for the team, Dr. Robertson helped coordinate local specialty care, advanced imaging, diagnostics and other healthcare needs during the team’s time in the community. Spain ultimately went on to become World Cup champions.
From local youth athletes to professional teams and international competitors, Dr. Robertson has built a career around helping athletes stay healthy, recover from injury and return to the activities they love.
A Well-Deserved Recognition
Being named a Champion of Healthcare is a meaningful reflection of the difference Dr. Robertson has made throughout his career—not only through his medical expertise, but through his investment in patients, athletes, students, colleagues and the Chattanooga community.
