From Saturday Sports Clinics to Seven-Day Access: CSMO Expands Orthopaedic Care in Cleveland and Chattanooga

For more than 40 years, Center for Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics has been there for athletes who need care when injuries happen—including on Friday nights. What began as Saturday Sports Clinics designed to get injured athletes seen quickly has become a longstanding tradition of community care.

Now, CSMO is taking that commitment a step further.

Patients in Cleveland can now access orthopaedic care Monday through Saturday, while CSMO’s Gunbarrel Road location is open seven days a week. The expanded availability makes it easier than ever for athletes, families, and active adults to get the care they need when they need it.

A 40-Year Tradition of Saturday Care

The Saturday Sports Clinics were originally launched in Chattanooga more than four decades ago to provide athletes injured during Friday night games with convenient access to sports medicine specialists the following morning.

Nine years ago, the Saturday Sports Clinic tradition expanded to Cleveland, where it has become an important part of the local sports community.

Dr. Jason Spangler, orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine physician, has been a dedicated part of that effort.

“We want to see all athletes of all sports of all ages,” says Dr. Spangler. “If it happened on Monday and you can’t come until Saturday, we’re there for you.”

That philosophy of making orthopaedic care accessible has continued to shape CSMO’s approach to serving the community.

Now Open Monday Through Saturday in Cleveland

While Saturday Sports Clinics remain an important part of CSMO’s history, patients in Cleveland no longer have to wait until Saturday to receive orthopaedic care.

CSMO’s Cleveland location is now open Monday through Saturday, providing patients with more opportunities to be evaluated for sports injuries, joint pain, fractures, and other orthopaedic conditions.

The expanded schedule is designed to make getting care more convenient for busy families, athletes, and anyone who may have difficulty scheduling an appointment during a traditional Monday-through-Friday workweek.

Seven Days a Week at Gunbarrel

CSMO has also expanded access at its Gunbarrel Road location in Chattanooga.

The Gunbarrel location is now open seven days a week, giving patients an additional option for convenient orthopaedic care throughout the week—including weekends.

The expanded availability is part of CSMO’s commitment to providing accessible, high-quality orthopaedic and sports medicine care throughout the region.

Whether an injury happens during a Friday night football game, a weekend soccer tournament, or simply while going about your everyday activities, you have options for getting the care you need.

More Than Sports Medicine

CSMO’s connection to the local sports community goes far beyond the clinic.

Dr. Spangler and the CSMO team are deeply involved with area athletics. CSMO athletic trainers provide coverage at all three high schools in Cleveland as well as numerous schools throughout Chattanooga, helping athletes receive immediate attention when injuries occur.

Physicians and physician assistants also serve on the sidelines, reinforcing CSMO’s commitment to supporting athletes both on and off the field.

As Dr. Spangler notes, high school sports are about more than the games themselves—they are part of the “fabric of the community,” bringing people together and creating memories that last a lifetime.

Orthopaedic Care When You Need It

For four decades, CSMO’s Saturday Sports Clinics have helped athletes get back on the field after injuries. Today, that same commitment to accessible care has expanded well beyond Saturdays.

With Cleveland now open Monday through Saturday and Gunbarrel open seven days a week, CSMO is making it easier for patients throughout the region to access experienced orthopaedic and sports medicine care.

Whether you’re dealing with a sports injury, a new injury, or pain that has been holding you back, CSMO is here to help.
